High School Activities Center progressing

Let the games begin. Well, almost.
Completion of the new Brandon High School Activities Center moved one step closer on Tuesday when a section of press box was delivered and installed by construction workers.
The $7 million project, part of a $73 million district bond extension passed by voters last year, started last spring. It will provide seating area for 4,000 spectators, including 3,000 seats for the home Brandon Blackhawks and 1,000 seats for the visitors. The field is prepared for artificial turf, however, due to the construction in the area, the turf will be installed in the spring. The stadium will open in the fall, said Tom Rodenbaugh, Brandon High School athletic director.
‘There will also be plenty of standing room,’Rodenbaugh said. ‘There is an elevated area where the band will play so fans can stand there and watch the football games.?
In addition to football, the activity center will be available for track and field meets, band activities, physical education classes, and it will be open to the public. The new center will have six serving windows, and bathrooms for men and women with ten stalls for each. There will also be a new parking lot leading to the center. Brandon has teamed up with many experts to help transition the high school with this bond extension including: SKANSKA USA, construction manager; French and Associates, architect; SHW Group, architect and Barton Malow technology manager.
