Home ignites when wires fall on it

Windy weather on Sunday caused wires to tumble at Flintridge and Joslyn Road, causing a home to catch on fire.
The Orion Township Fire Department and Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to the home on Flintridge at about 10:54 a.m. on Nov. 6.
An OCSD deputy observed flames shooting out of the east side of the house.
The deputy and a member of the fire department were able to use a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.
According to the OCSD report, power lines had fallen onto a chain link fence surrounding the property, causing the home to become electrified, and igniting the natural gas service.
Flintridge was shut down between Joslyn and Gainesborough. Deputies from the OCSD and fire personnel went door to door to inform neighbors whose homes were connected by the chain link fence of the situation.
No one was injured in the incident.
