Inaugural ‘Jingle in July’ a success

Over 200 runners and hikers registered for the first annual Jingle in July 5-Mile Run/Hike held July 22 at Canterbury Village.
The trail included a trek through Orion Oaks Park, and medals were handed out in 14 categories.
Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand to greet the participants, and there was food on hand as well.
New Baltimore’s Pat Sarver, 18, was the runaway winner, taking the top honors by 45 seconds over Oxford’s Adam Frezza.
Lake Orion category winners included Andrew McDonald (male 25-29), Jason Cottar (male 30-34), Jean Tangeman (female 40-44), Stan Ford (male 50-54), Bill Kalmar (male 60-64) and Darlene Elder (female 60-64).
Scott Cleven of the Arthritis Foundation said the event fundraising will likely exceed $10,000 when everything is totaled.
Proceeds will help fund programs and research to benefit the more than 2.5 million adults and 7,000 children in Michigan who have one of the over 100 forms of arthritis and related diseases.
The event was made possible by Always Christmas/Canterbury Village, Oakland County Parks, Magic 105.1 and The Lake Orion Review.
