Ted Schmidt, an entreprenuer who proposed a valet parking idea to the Village Council last summer, was the subject of an investigation that aired on WDIV Local 4 earlier this month.
The ‘hidden camera investigation,? done by reporter Kevin Dietz went into Schmidt’s Hitech Metro Hearing business in Sterling Heights.
The story said that Schmidt’s license to test for hearing problems had been revoked. They claimed he also overcharged for products, many of which were being sold to elderly customers.
‘According to what was reported on WDIV, he was also a convicted felon,? Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel said.
Schmidt’s valet parking plan stalled when the village asked him to deposit $500 and do some more research on the project.
‘He was all talk and no substance,? Van Tassel said. ‘I’m just glad the Village didn’t buy his pie in the sky story.?
The television report said that Sterling Heights police is asking for witnesses to come forward regarding Schmidt’s hearing aid business.
‘I would not expect to see him back around here at all,? Van Tassel said.
