Is Orion producing the Car of the Year?

Production of the new Chevrolet Malibu line continues to climb at General Motors? Orion Plant, and the vehicle is a finalist for the North American Car of the Year (which will be announced at the upcoming auto show in Detroit).
‘There is a huge demand for it, and all of us here in Orion feel fortunate to be producing the Malibu line,? said Plant Spokesperson Rosemary McBride.
The Orion Plant is considered a ‘flex-plant? for the Malibu, with main production taking place at GM’s Fairfax Plant in Kansas City.
McBride said the plant does not release projection figures, but noted that like the critics, consumers are responding well to the vehicle.
‘The dealers are having a difficult time keeping them on the lot,? she said. ‘And that’s great news. It will keep us really busy out here.?
In addition to the new Malibu, the GM Orion Plant continues to be the only plant producing the G6 line.
McBride said sales of all three G6 models remain steady, citing high gas prices as one reason why consumers like the vehicle.
The North American International Auto Show kicks off next week in Downtown Detroit and opens to the public on Jan. 19.
