Lacrosse team continues its losing streak

Oxford’s lacrosse team is on a bit of a losing streak after this past Tuesday’s 1-10 game against Swartz Creek and last Thursday’s 3-8 game against Lapeer West.
Against Swartz Creek, Oxford gave up nine goals in the first half, and couldn’t get anything going offensively. The lone goal was scored by sophomore Adam Cook.
‘It was our worst defeat of the season,? said coach Brian Edwards. ‘Swartz Creek was a great team, the best we’ve played so far this year.?
Last Thursday, Oxford was expecting to defeat Lapeer West, but terrible passes and failing to move the ball around cost them the game.
The first two minutes of the game Oxford created a two goal lead, but their defense couldn’t stand up to the multiple odd man rushes generated by their costly turnovers on offense.
Senior Adam McLoskey scored the three goals of the game.
‘We’ve got to get back to the basics, playing fundamental defense,? Edwards said.
Oxford is now 1-8 overall and will travel to Swartz Creek for a 6 p.m. game tonight. Don’t miss their May 20 home game against Lake Orion at the high school’s football field at 6:30 p.m.
