January’s been nothing but wins so far for the Goodrich Martians girls basketball team.
On Jan. 5 The Goodrich Martians topped Bendle High School with a 66-39 victory. Kortni Elsworth had 18 points, Lindsay Bergquist had eight, and Stephanie Coates along with Megan McGinnis had seven points. Brittany Bertrand had nine rebounds for the Martians, Nicole Hill had eight, and Samantha Zirzow had seven.
On Jan. 7 the Martians defeated Bentley High School with a 57-26 victory. Elsworth had 20 points for Goodrich, and five steals. Jolynn Zirnhelt had 11 points, Zirzow had five steals, Alisha Fischer had four steals, and Bertrand had four assists.
The lady Martians continued winning with a victory over Genesee High School on Jan. 10, by a score of 59-10. Zirzow had 15 points, and seven rebounds. Elsworth had 11 points, and four steals. Zirnhelt had seven points, and four rebounds. JoAnne Carter had four rebounds, and Bertrand had four steals.
Goodrich took on Montrose Jan. 15 and walked off with a 61-13 win. Elsworth had 10 points, giving her 1,005 points for her career. Zirzow, had 10 points and four blocks. Coates gave the Martians nine points and five rebounds, Zirnhelt had eight points, and five steals, and Bertrand had five assists and four steals.
On Monday night, Jan. 21 Goodrich defeated Lake Fenton, winning 60-19. Elsworth scored 16 points and Bertrand added 11 for Goodrich. Morgan Pattillo had 12 rebounds for Lake Fenton.
