Whipped cream, chocolate sauce, colorful sprinkles, maraschino cherries . . .
All of these yummy items are commonly used as toppings for ice cream sundaes.
But at Lakeville Elementary School on Friday, they became toppings for Principal Kristy Gibson-Marshall and Physical Education Teacher Brian Luba.
As a reward for collecting $7,862 during the annual Jump Rope for Heart fund-raiser, four lucky students ? Charlotte Binkley, Jacob Welc, Monet Bidock and Steven Felcyn ? were selected at random to transform the pair into sticky, messy human sundaes. Not only did Lakeville students exceed last year’s fund-raising total, they set a new school record.
Gibson-Marshall was a real trooper about the whole thing. Luba, on the other hand, tried to wear a rain poncho, but that idea was quickly ? and loudly ? rejected by the crowd. They at least let him remove his shoes.
Hats off to both Gibson-Marshall and Luba for being such good sports and bravo to the students for breaking their school record.
