Lots to do this August at the OAC

A variety of children’s art classes will be offered for ages five and up beginning Aug. 1 and running each Wednesday and Saturday through the month.
Classes are only $15 per session and run for two hours (material fees may apply, call (248)693-4986 for details). Don’t miss these great opportunities…
Aug. 1: 10 a.m.-noon: Floral Painting
1 p.m.-3 p.m.: Still Life Painting
Aug. 4: 10 a.m.: Make a garden angel
1 p.m.: Mosiac Picture Frames
Aug. 8: 10 a.m.: Slate Painting
1 p.m.: Mosiac Art
Aug 11: 10 a.m.: Copper and Sea Glass Wind Chimes
1 p.m.: Beaded Garden Stakes
Aug. 13-17: Rhythm Arts Camp. Camp runs from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and features a variety of arts activities and instrument making. Cost is $140 or $125 for OAC members. Family discounts are available.
Aug. 18: 10 a.m.: Clay Pot Birdbath
1 p.m.: Sculpey Bug Making

In addition to these children’s programs, the Second Annual Healing Power of the Arts Exhibit will run from Aug. 13-Sept. 8.
The Orion Art Center, together with The Art Experience, are pleased to present this transformative exhibit that captures the power of art in the healing process.
Works from area artists are featured with heartwarming statements of empowerment.
The artist drop-off deadline is July 26, and the opening reception is Monday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m.
Featured Kalamazoo artist Susan Teague will add comments and line drawing analysis. More information about the festivities will soon be announced.
