Man caught after nine-hour chase with deputies

An 18-year-old man from Oxford is facing charges for alleged unlawful entry, escape from custody and home invasion after a nine-hour chase with Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies early Monday.
According to Det. Kevin McNally of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Oxford substation, the man allegedly entered a trailer on Maynard Circle in the Lakevilla Manufactured Home Community around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
The homeowners immediately called the sheriff’s department, but the suspect fled on foot.
Around 12:13 a.m., McNally said deputies came across the man in the same area and were able to apprehend him, but he unfortunately escaped because there were no handcuffs placed on him.
‘The deputy shot his taser (gun) at the subject, two probes struck him, but the suspect continued to flee on foot,? McNally said.
The sheriff’s department’s K-9 unit and Air One helicopter was brought in to search for the man throughout the early morning hours.
McNally said the suspect allegedly broke into another trailer on Dunlap Circle in Lakevilla around 9:30 a.m. and stole a pair of jeans to wear after his had become dirty after hiding in swampy areas.
‘His pants were all muddy and soaked,? McNally said. ‘He was actually running in his boxer shorts for the later half of this chase.?
As a precaution, McNally said Oxford Middle School and Lakeville Elementary School were put on a lockdown from approximatley 9:20 to 9:50 a.m. until the suspect was apprehended.
According to the report, the man was found inside of a shed on Maynard Circle and taken into custody.
He was released on a $500 bond and is expected to be arraigned in the Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court today.
McNally said the man has been convicted of other home invasions in Oxford in the past.
