Marist Academy team earns 1st place in Lego League regional competition

Students from Marist Academy in Pontiac participated in November in regional competition for Lego League at Linden High School.
Of the 32 teams competing, one of three Marist Academy teams, the Red Planet Rovers, placed first in the competition scoring 376 out of a possible 400 points.
This victory qualified the team to attend state competition in December at the Novi Expo Center.
The Red Planet Rovers team is comprised of Evan McGuire (Orion Township), Brandon Kidder (Rochester Hills); John Mager (Sylvan Lake), Andrew Stouffer (Holly), David Wulbrecht (Clarkston), Justin Semmes (Clarkston) and Michael Warholak (Sylvan Lake).
Marist Academy was also represented by two other Lego League teams, the Space Cadets, made up of Frankie Marsh (Oakland Township), Caitlin Kelly (Clarkston), Lillee Stromski (Romeo) and Elizabeth Elias (Clarkston) and the Red Planet Raiders consisting of Lukas Garske (Lake Orion), Matt Dondanville (Clarkston), Brian Fain (Sterling Heights), Andrew Severini (Almont) and brothers Matt and Jon Sheperd (Oxford).
Both teams made a strong showing, but failed to make the cut for state competition.
