The growing movie industry in Michigan found it’s way to Addison Township as big named stars spent a day filming a few scenes for the upcoming film ‘Reasonable Bunch?.
Demi Moore, Kate Bosworth and Thomas Haden Church star in ‘Reasonable Bunch?, a comedy about a dysfunctional family trying set aside and overcome their differences to plan a wedding.
According to location manager Connie Johnson, Lakeville Lake fit the description of a fake house on a lake.
‘Originally we were looking for a house on a lake; we didn’t find that so the next best option was to find a way to fake it so you could walk down a wooded path to the lake,? Johnson explained.
They spent the day on Friday, Oct. 1 shooting several scenes of the family either talking on the dock or walking to the dock. But the highlight came at night when they set out to film a rescue scene involving a helicopter finding the main actor, who was lost on Lakeville Lake.
Once the scene was complete, the film crew packed their bags and headed to the next film location.
In the movie, Lakeville Lake will be portraying Chesapeake Bay.
Most of ‘Reasonable Bunch? was filmed in Rochester, Oakland Twp. and Addison Twp., with the main location in Oakland Twp.
Addison Township Supervisor Bruce Pearson was thrilled to see the movie industry finally come to Addison Twp.
‘We’re excited about it because we had told people that we have a wonderful location for movies and someone took us up on it,? he said.
‘We have a very diverse area out here. We have farming land, historical buildings, park land, lakes, trailways; we have everything for almost any movie shoot,? Pearson added.
Addison Township Fire Chief Jerry Morawski, who was standing by on set in case any medical attention was needed, was impressed by how efficient the entire film crew was.
‘I was impressed at how organized (they were)…there was probably 150 people there with all of their equipment and I was impressed at how diligent they were,? Morawski said.
Once filming wrapped up for the evening, everyone headed over to Louie’s Food and Spirit to eat dinner.
For Johnson, who lives on Oakland Township, this was the first time she has worked in northeast Oakland County.
‘It was a real pleasure working on this side of town,? she said, noting that everyone ‘bent over backwards? to help accommodate the film crew.
‘All the places we filmed at made it easy; as a location manager, I have a great appreciation for that,? Johnson said.
‘Reasonable Bunch? is directed and written by Sam Levinson and should hit theaters sometime in 2011.
