At the March 17 Independence Township Board of Trustees meeting, the board unanimously approved the purchase of a new dump truck for the Department of Public Works, at a cost of $108,200. The 2007-model dump truck the DPW currently has, “while it runs, it does not run well,” according to township Supervisor Pat Kittle. It will be transferred to the Parks, Recreation and Seniors Department.
