White Lake Road
project moves forward

The Independence Township Board voted unanimously, Oct. 18, to approve first reading of a rezoning request for 3.16 acres north of White Lake Road, east of Andersonville Road.
The request is to rezone the vacant land from Limited Industrial to Planned Unit Development, for a new gas station, restaurant, and market.
The project will include fuel pumps for passenger vehicles and trucks; 10,054-square-foot market, coffee shop, and bakery; and 8,123-square-foot grill and entertainment center.
The developer is Holly Nannoshi Properties, LLC, of Bloomfield Hills.

Rotary wine tasting

Clarkston Rotary Club hosts A Taste of the Holiday food and wine event, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, at Bordine’s, 8600 Dixie Highway.
Attendees will enjoy dishes prepared by local restaurants, including Buffalo Wild Wings, Hamlin Pub, Joe’s Crab Shack, Kruse’s Deer Lake Inn, LA Cafe, Lakes Grille, MacPhee’s, O’Malley’s Galley, Overtyme Grill, Parker’s Hilltop Brewery, Parties and Shindigs, Pita Way, and Via Bologna, along with wines and craft beers from around the world in the Bordine’s nursery, decorated for the holidays.
Admission to the event, which will also include a silent auction and music entertainment, is $55 at the door. The fund raiser supports the Rotary’s local and international projects, student scholarships, and Youth Exchange.

Library board
appointments

Clarkston City Council voted unanimously, Monday, to reappoint Mary Himburg and appoint Anne Rose to the Clarkston Independence District Library Board.
“We are truly lucky she (Rose) is part of the village,” said Council member Sharron Catallo. “She has a longstanding knowledge of the library.”
The city appoints two residents to the board, which sets policy, budget, and planning, and hires the library director. Independence Township appoints five members to the seven-member board.
