INDEPENDENCE TWP. — The outlook is bright and cheerful for the Feb. 28 meeting of the Clarkston-Area Backyard Birders Club.
The meeting will be indoors in comfortable Wint Nature Center at Independence Oaks Park, beginning at 6:30 p.m. and concluding by 8 p.m. Meetings of the club are open to the pubic with no charges or fees. Complimentary coffee and baked goods are provided.
“It might as well be spring because of what we’ll hear from guest presenter Kelly Duty of the Blue Heron Headwaters Conservancy,” said Birders Club President Bob McGowan. “Kelly will present outstanding visuals of our native birds and other wildlife and tell us about the lands and waters that support them.”
Duty was born and raised in southeast Michigan and attended Central Michigan University, where she studied marketing and communications and taught public speaking to incoming freshmen.
After a successful career in the medical field, Duty joined the conservancy as the director of donor engagement where she pursues two or her passions – supporting nonprofits and the outdoors.
“It is my hope that, together, we are able to create value in our communities by preserving green space, ensuring clean water and protecting habitat for our wildlife for generations to come,” said Duty.
