The gridiron heroes have their sights set on getting their first win in the OAA Red as they host Oxford this Friday in their home opener.
The Clarkston Varsity Football team lost their league opener to Southfield Art & Technology last Friday in overtime, 24-18.
Clarkston opened with a 42-yard touchdown run from junior Michael Fluegel in the first quarter and a PAT from senior kicker Zach Mansour.
The Warriors scored their own touchdown and missed the PAT to put the score, 7-6.
Mansour gave the Wolves more of an edge in the second quarter when he set up for a 41-yard field goal and hit his mark for three points.
The Wolves struck again with three minutes left in the game off a 15-yard touchdown pass from senior J.T. King to Fluegel. A 2-point conversion by senior Nick Stalworth from King put the game at a tie with both teams at 18 points.
Fans were on the edge of their seats as the game went into overtime. Southfield scored after the ball went loose on their possession. The Wolves took over possession but were unable to score before the game closed.
King went 13-for-23 in passing for 71 yards with one touchdown and one extra point.
Fluegel caught four of the passes for 32 yards and caught the touchdown. Junior Conner Heaton caught four passes for 13 yards and senior Nick Stalworth caught the extra point.
Fluegel led rushers going 68 yards on ten carries with one touchdown. Junior Josh Cantu rushed the ball 11 times for 36 yards.
For defense, junior Zach Scott had eight tackles and four assists. Senior Carson Stottlemyer had three tackles and five assists and senior Jake Buchmann had four tackles and one assist.
The Wolves (1-1) take on Oxford (1-1), who is also looking for their first win in the OAA Red after losing to West Bloomfield last Friday, 27-21.
Kickoff is 7 p.m., 6093 Flemings Lake Road.
