Notre Dame sinks Cat swimmers in season opener

The Varsity Swim team kicked off their season on Tuesday Aug. 31 with a 127-58 loss to Notre Dame Prep.
Even with the loss, Head Coach Jackie Rank was pleased because the girls were able to establish four records and have a state meet cut.
‘I’m pleased with how all of the girls did at this first meet and I think they will be surprised at how much they improve throughout the season,? she said.
The results are as follows:
200 Medley Relay: The Oxford A relay of sophomore Caitlyn Wroblewski, freshman Elizabeth Wilkins, freshman Haley Kornburger and senior Anna Daves finished second with a time of 2:09:.42.
200 Freestyle: Senior Captain Sarah Skelton finished fourth with a time of 2:22.51 and sophomore Sammi Kurk was fifth.
200 Individual Medley: Kornburger finished first with a school record time of 2:20.61.
50 Freestyle: Junior Amanda delaPaz finished second with a time of 28.27, Daves came in third and freshman Kati Flanagan came in fifth for the Wildcats.
Diving: Senior Jade Casadei finished first for Oxford with a school record 171 points. Senior Kayla Pollard was third.
100 Butterfly: Kornburger captured her second first place of the evening with a record time of 1:01.83, which qualifies her for the state meet in November. Sophomore Laura Zorle was fourth for the Wildcats.
100 Freestyle: Sophomore Casey Keils came in fourth for Oxford with a time of 1:03.81 and Daves came in fifth.
500 Freestyle: Skelton came in third with a time of 6:16.81 and Flanagan was fifth.
200 Freestyle Relay: The Wildcat A relay of Kornburger, delaPaz, Wilkins and Skelton finished second with a time of 1:56.73. Kornburger led off the relay with a 25.97, a school record for the 50 Freestyle.
100 Backstroke: Wroblewski came in fourth for the Wildcats, posting a time of 1:23.08. Sophomore Miranda Murphy finished fifth.
100 Breaststroke: Zorle came in third with a time of 1:24.06 and Wilkins finished fifth for the Wildcats.
400 Freestyle Relay: The Wildcat A relay of Daves, Flanagan, delaPaz and Skelton finished third with a time of 4:26.97.
The girl’s home opener is on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. against Ferndale.
