OAC campers take center stage

Last week, 16 kids spent their summer days preparing and performing at the Orion Art Center’s Theatre Arts Camp 2007.
According to theatre camp director Karey Hart, who is also the theatre arts specialist at Stadium Drive Elementary, the campers created a script, characters, props and a set as part of their week long program.
The group then performed their play, ‘A Day at Grandma’s House,? for family and friends.
The play, set in the gardens of a mansion in New Orleans in present day, finds a mother and her three children visiting their grandmother. While they are there, the children are tricked by some bullies into visiting their grandmother’s garden where a ‘garden monster? is supposedly lurking.
Unfortunately, the children become lost while they are visiting the garden, and their mother calls in KIDS (Kids Investigative Detective Service) to find her children. Not only are the children found, but the mystery of the garden monster is solved and the culprit revealed in a surprising turn of events.
‘They did a great job in a very short amount of time,? Hart said.
If you would like to find out about the mystery of the garden monster, you can watch ‘A Day at Grandma’s House? on ONTV channel 10. Check out the program guide at www.orionontv.org for days and times.
