A 20-year-old Oxford woman was issued a citation for failing to stop in an assured clear distance last Thursday after she rear-ended a 49-year-old Oxford woman on W. Drahner and Pontiac.
The 49-year-old woman was stopped to make a left-hand turn onto Pontiac in her 2007 Chevrolet station wagon, when the younger woman, driving a 1999 Saturn, slammed into her going eastbound on Drahner, and then veered off the road into a ditch. The woman complained of minor injury, but didn’t need to be transfered to the hospital.
Oops!
An Oakland County Road Commission truck hauling dirt over-turned Thursday on Lake George Road, just north of Lakeville Road, in Addison Township. Apparently, the heavy truck was travelling north on the west side of the road a little too close to the edge, when it hit a soft patch of dirt. The weakened area gave way, causing the vehicle to turn over on its driver’s side and land in the adjacent ditch. Craig Bryson, public information officer for the RCOC, added the reason the dirt was soft was because workers had just completed some ditching there. Fortunately, the driver was not injured.
