Last Thursday, Oxford Bank employees donated a total of $1,400 to two very deserving charities.
Using money raised through the bank’s ‘Dress Down for Charity? program, Oxford Bank employees voted to donate $700 to the Oakland Pet Fund and $700 to Clarkston SCAMP.
The ‘Dress Down? program allows bank employees the opportunity to donate at least $1 to charity in exchange for dressing in casual attire on the fourth Friday of each month. The $1,400 raised represents money donated during the 2006 fiscal year.
The Oakland Pet Fund, which is a non-profit organization, works with Oakland County, Michigan rescues and shelters using the Best Friends No More Homeless Pets model, which strives for the day when no Oakland County dog or cat of reasonable health and temperament is killed merely because he or she does not have a home.
The Oakland Pet Fund funds and supports outstanding humane services and programs that seek to improve the welfare of homeless pets by finding permanent and/or foster homes and ending unnecessary suffering and euthanasia of unwanted and abandoned companion animals. Working in collaboration with local animal control organizations, shelters, rescue groups, governments and volunteers, their goal is to place Oakland County at the forefront of humane efforts in Michigan and the United States.
Clarkston SCAMP has been providing a summer camp experience for individuals with special needs in northern Oakland County and southern Genesee County since 1976. The focus of their five-week, fun-filled program is to build self-esteem and maintain academic achievement through recreational activities and social events.
