Oxford Big Boy re-opens with ‘retro’ look

Last Monday, the Oxford Big Boy celebrated it’s grand re-opening celebration after extensive renovations.
Oxford Twp. Supervisor Bill Dunn, along with restaurant owners Sam Saleh, Norman Mourad and manager Kihm Bates, cut the ceremonial ribbon hoping customers will embrace the new look.
The 5,000-square-foot Big Boy was one of Saleh and Mourad’s four restaurants to be remodeled inside and out.
‘We’re remodeling them to the prototype concept that you see here today,? Mourad said.
The restaurant now has a more ‘family-friendly? feel, with all new booths, cobalt blue hanging lights and a mural of famous Big Boy items, like milkshakes, burgers and onion rings, on one whole wall.
The staff even got a makeover with new uniforms.
The new ice cream counter faces a quilted stainless steel wall which encloses the kitchen, echoing back to diners of the 50s.
‘There’s touches of retro,? said Tony Michaels, CEO of Big Boy Restaurants International.
Ceiling tiles, exterior signage, the building facade and bathrooms were also compeltely remodeled to fit the current prototype. Stop by for a milkshake and have a peek at the new look.
