It was fun trying out Clarkston Chiropractic’s new cryotherapy technology at their recent ribbon cutting celebration.
You step into the chamber and it blasts you with super-chilled mist, which gets down to minus 240 or so. Two or three minutes in there is a full treatment. I went for two. It definitely gets the blood moving and actually feels pretty good, and the blast looks like the carbonite freezing process from “Empire Strikes Back.”
I survived the process and am so far well preserved.
I have some new technology myself, after taking my old smart phone outside on a run in the rain one time too many.
I had planned to upgrade for a while, but the dead phone sped things up. So now I have an iPhone, an SE model because seven’s too new and expensive.
It’s a big leap forward for me. Siri and I are getting along. I just tell my phone to do stuff like set alarms and timers, play music, and even make calls without having to search various menus.
I downloaded the Pokemon Go app, even though I’m months behind everyone else. I’m not even to the level where I can pick a team yet. There’s a Pokestop at Rudy’s, though, which I can hit from my desk in the News office.
I’ve tried out one of the running apps, which voices updates on time and running pace every five minutes or so. The voice doesn’t sound like she’s very impressed with my speed so far.
I also recently upgraded my home internet service, which included buying a new modem and WIFI set. I got a combination unit this time, and managed to set it up myself without any help from the Geek Squad.
I got it along with a few cable channels, which I had cut off a few years ago. So now I can watch The Walking Dead as it airs, instead of waiting most of a year as I have been doing with Netflix.
My niece and I texted about the developments of Sunday’s episode as it was on. They’re doing a renaissance-fair-meets-the-zombie-apocalypse thing so far this season, along with a barbed-wire bat.
She suggested we watch the show together some time. That seems kind of old fashioned, though.
