Police looking for bank thief

Lake Orion police are still searching for a bank robber that stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the TCF Bank (471 S. Broadway) shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday.
Police described the man as six-feet tall and mid-20s to 30s in age, with brown hair pulled into a banded collar length pony tail along with a slight moustache.
He entered the bank and approached a teller, displaying a note demanding cash. The man did not speak and, after receiving the cash, left on foot, to the north east.
A tracking dog lost the man’s scent on roadway to the north of the bank. No vehicles or accomplices were observed.
The man was wearing a tan, half zip fleece pullover, with a t-shirt underneath, a dark-blue plain base ball hat, blue nylon jogging pants with a wide gold stripe and white or tan tennis shoes.
No weapon was seen or implied and the man did not leave his note behind.
According to Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh, the station has received some tips from individuals and is requesting that anyone with information to contact the Lake Orion Police Department dispatch center at (248)693-8321.
A robbery at a TCF Bank in Independence Township occurred within minutes of the Lake Orion robbery, but the two are not connected. A suspect has already been taken into custody in that robbery.
According to Narsh, robberies tend to increase at this time of year and he reminds local business owners to remain alert and observant.
‘Report suspicious people, vehicles and circumstances. Call dispatch immediately,? he said. ‘This time of year, be on a heightened awareness.?
Narsh added the Lake Orion Police Department will be increasing their patrol along M-24 and in Lake Orion’s business district.
