Prall remembered as good cop, friend

The Lake Orion Police Department says good-bye today to another friend and former officer. Harry Prall passed away June 22 at the age of 76.
Prall spent 25 years as part of the Lake Orion Police Department, first starting as a reserve officer around 1963, and then being hired as a part-time officer in 1974. He retired from the department in 1988.
‘He was a good cop,? said Police Chief Jerry Narsh. ‘He knew his community and cared deeply for it.?
‘His concern was that it was safe,? Narsh added. ‘He did a great job for the LOPD.?
Prall was a former Marine, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was also retired from General Motors, where he worked as a senior manufacturing engineer.
Both Prall and his wife, Cecelia, were actively involved in the Orion Senior Center, as well as Prall being a former Lions Club member and member of the NRA.
According to his wife, Prall enjoyed hunting and doing wood crafts, where he made ‘oodles of things? including all of their living room furniture. He also enjoyed playing Bingo with his wife.
The couple was married for 57 years and, according to Narsh, the two were like a ‘hand and a glove.?
‘They were very much in love,? he added, ‘and just wonderful people.?
Prall lived in Orion for 41 years, and enjoyed being active in the community.
‘He was a busy man,? Cecelia said. ‘He was there to help when anyone needed it.?
