Program allows Stadium students to ‘reflect?

Stadium Drive Elementary held its 11th Annual Arts Reflections Ceremony this past December.
The school’s PTA believes all children deserve a quality arts education and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participation in its Annual Arts Reflections Program.
The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition.
This year, students submitted entries in six categories: literature, musical composition, photography, dance choreography, video/film production and the visual arts.
There were two age divisions, Primary (Kindergarten through second grade) and Intermediate (third grade through fifth grade).
In its more than 30-year history, the program has encouraged millions of students across the nation to create works of art. This year Stadium Drive Elementary received over 78 submissions.
Each year, the Reflections Program challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme. This year’s theme was ‘My Favorite Place.?
The children submitted entries about their favorite park, the library, the ocean, California, Up North, Going Home with the Christmas Lights On, and the Sagebrush Cantina.
All the students received participation certificates and ribbons. First and second place winning entries will be sent to the State PTA for judging against other student’s entries across the state.
All of the local judging took place at the Orion Public Library. Special thanks went out to all of the judges who participated in this program.
The judges included Jim Haugh, Dr. Jesse Baker, Tom Wearing, Todd Gordon, Brett Saunders, Elaine Darbee, Jewly Vera, Lori Phelps, Don Reese, Dorthy Johnston, Dorothy Sedlock, Paula Kurzawa and Richard Webster.
In addition, Diane Ostrand of Accent on Art contributed her time and supplies to prepare the visual art and photography pieces for state judging, as she has also done in past years.
