The Star Books team earned first place in the Battle of the Books.
About 200 readers competed for prizes in the Springfield Township Library’s Battle of the Books, sponsored by the Springfield Township Friends of the Library, March 20.
The 11th annual event was hosted by Davisburg Elementary School and sponsored by the Springfield Township Friends of the Library as part of the library’s goal of promoting literacy from a young age.
It included 10 teams of fourth and fifth graders representing Davisburg Elementary, Cedar Crest Academy, Holly Academy, and home-schooled students. They read eight books assigned in January, and prizes were awarded to the three teams correctly answering the most questions about the books. Awards were also given for the best team name and best team costume.
