Residents in the northeast part of the township lost power for a few hours in the overnight hours of Sunday, Jan. 6. For some, it marked the third time in less than a year that they’ve lost power.
The outage was credited with a pole-top fire, which required a circuit shutdown in order to make repairs.
Trustee John Garlicki brought the issue to the township board during last week’s regular meeting, noting it was the third such instance of a pole-top ‘explosion? along Miller Road, near the entrance to the Bunny Run subdivision.
Supervisor Jerry Dywasuk talked with officials from DTE Energy after the meeting and learned that last week’s incident was unrelated to the previous outages, though it was on the same pole as one of the previous outages.
According to Mike Palchesko, a regional manager with DTE, power was lost in part of the township from just after 11:30 p.m. until around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 7.
Palchesko said he would be happy to have engineers further investigate the reliability of services in that area if power issues are still in question.
