Parents transformed a room at Clarkston High School into a “Zen Zone” to help students cope with final exams.
“We hope to give students a cool space to relax and de-stress during exam week, but more importantly, we’re sending a message as parents and teachers that we acknowledge their efforts and are here for them,” said Amy Metz, Health & Wellness Chair of the PTSA.
The Zen Zone was open to students throughout the school day with music, calming aromatherapy, hot tea sponsored by Brioni Cafe & Deli, soft lighting sponsored by Brose Electric, and comfortable seating donated by teachers. It also included therapy dogs, Mindfulness/meditation on Jan. 18, and Yin yoga sessions on Jan. 22. More than 300 students visited the Zen Zone in its first day.
“I’ve never seen teenage boys drink so much hot tea in my life,” Metz added.
