Fourth graders at Leonard Elementary have been studying slavery in America, so teacher Elizabeth Delano organized the second annual Underground Railroad Re-creation last Friday.
Students had specific routes through the school they had to follow to freedom. When stopping in states like North Carolina and Pennsylvania, the slaves had to hide from the evil plantation owners played by Delano and teacher Mary Pinelli.
