Mayor Pro Temp David Savage did not file a petition to appear on the ballot for the three seats open on the Clarkston City Council this November.
With the filing date passed August 2, Dan Colombo, Corian Johnston, James Brueck and Walter Gamble, Jr. filed for the election.
Savage cited personal reasons revolving around his business, Savage Photography and Design LLC, for the decision.
‘We have a business in town and we really need to put in more effort. It’s a decision between personal lives and the city,? said Savage. ‘I also think it’s time to let new faces get involved who want to serve their community.?
After over 10 years on council, Savage reflected on his experience citing a number of developments ranging from creating a master plan for Clarkston to business district development as highlights during his tenure.
‘I’m not closing the door on coming back, but I’m taking a break. I think the council we have currently is an excellent group of people,? said Savage.
The election is scheduled for Nov. 8. According to Assistant to the City Clerk Marcy Rotondo, the elected candidates take office the council meeting following the election.
