The Lake Orion School District has entered into a four-year partnership agreement with Dell Computers that will bring over $1 million in benefits and perks to the school system.
On the school district’s end, it has to commit to buying Dell products and the company’s services. It already has been replacing old computers with Dell products for the past three years.
It’s expected the school district will be spending $3.5 million on Dells goods and services in the four year period. Monies for these purchases will be coming out of bond funds and the district’s general fund.
The school district doesn’t have to worry about bidding requirements because it uses a statewide bid process where the bid is already set.
And what is Dell giving the school district?
The agreement includes:
n Special Pricing
n Employee Discount Program — Discounts will be available and will be at least 5 percent greater than generally available on www.dell.com.
n Premier Access Program Level 2 — This allows the district direct access to Dell technicians for support and parts replacement either via phone or the web.
n Dell Certified Systems Engineer Certification — Dell agrees to sponsor the training and certification of four district technicians. This certification gives the district the ability to receive reimbursement for standard warranty repairs on Dell branded desktops, notebooks, servers, printers and projectors
n Installation Services
n Rebate Program — Dell will provide a rebate program of 2 percent of all goods and services purchased through Dell.
n Five year Hardware Warranty
n Asset Disposal Program — Dell will take up to 450 old systems
n Tablet PC Program — The district will receive six tablet PCs for its use.
n Web Design/Training
