Shots fired at OMS bldg.

Several bullets found their way into Oxford Middle School last week.
Fortunately, the building, located at 1420 Lakeville Rd., was empty as students and staff were off enjoying Thanksgiving break.
An unknown person or persons fired a handgun at the school’s north and east entrances sometime between 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25 and 7:05 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, according to a report taken by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
Multiple gunshots resulted in shattered glass, bullet holes and damage to window and door frames.
The damage was discovered by a custodian Friday morning. This same custodian told investigators there was no damage to the building when he locked up on Wednesday.
Approximately seven fragmented, spent bullets were collected at the scene and submitted to the county’s crime lab, according to the sheriff’s report. Surveillance recordings from the school’s security system were reviewed and the investigation remains open.
