The Lake Orion boys? ski team took fifth place at the state finals, held Monday at Nub’s Nob in Spring Harbor, while the girls? placed seventh for the second straight year.
The boys? were led by Zach Prochaska’s 14th place finishes in both the giant slalom and the slalom. Ian Prochaska also scored in both events for the Dragons, who had good showings from Brian Arsen, Chris Gottachalk, Corey Blomquist, Stephen Sims and Clark Seybert as well.
The team actually placed fourth in both events, but their 154 points was behind Traverse City Central (106), Brother Rice (117), Traverse City West (135) and Waterford (136) in the final standings.
The girls? were led by Emily Loerch (24th in GS and 19th in slalom). Ashley Simpkins and Kelsey Lepper scored points in both events as well, and Julia Jabczenski, Haley Sullins, Katie Bruin and Allison Mitchell all competed strong for LO.
The team was sixth in the slalom and eighth in the GS. Marquette won the girls? event, while Dragon rivals Clarkston (third) and Adams (fifth) had strong showings, too.
