Spikes fall to fourth place in FML

The Varsity girls Volleyball team fell to fourth place in the Flint Metro League Standings after a disappointing 1-1 week against Swartz Creek and Linden.
The girls got off to a slow start against Linden on Thursday, falling behind two sets to none in the best-of-five. They rallied to take the third and fourth set 25-12. In the final set, they were leading 11-7, but the service fell apart and Linden took the final set.
‘It was a little disappointing to lose the match, especially after coming back and beating them handily in the third and fourth sets,? said Head Coach Kristi McDevitt.
Senior Marissa Manzella had 10 kills and four blocks, while fellow Senior Valerie Anderson had eight kills and three blocks. ‘We were clearly the better team and we didn’t play at our level and it cost us huge,? said McDevitt.
Earlier that week Oxford took it to Swartz Creek, beating them three sets to none to claim their fifth victory in the FML.
They won the first and second game 25-18 and the final game 25-17.
The girls are 5-3 in the FML with a league game against Holly on Oct. 20.
