It was a ‘knight? to remember as Scripps Middle School hosted their sixth annual Madrigal Dinner Theater last month.
The night featured a five-course holiday feast, and was a three-hour medieval-style event hosted by over 100 seventh and eighth grade drama students.
Over 240 guests attended the event and were served and entertained by the students.
All three of Mrs. Lowe’s drama classes played a part in the magical evening, with one class serving the actual dinner (with help from the kitchen staff) as well as juggling and storytelling. Another class entertained the dinner with dancing, jousting, jokes and a royal court complete with a king and queen, and a third class presented a play, Don Quixote and the Black Knight.
Additional students added to the environment by dancing, singing, trumpeting and selling homemade trinkets.
Even the art students helped set the stage for the magical evening by transforming the cafeteria into a castle hall.
‘The amount of work Mrs. Lowe, Mrs. Bongiorno, our kitchen staff and the wonderful team of volunteers puts into the production is outstanding,? said Scripps Principal Dan Haas, who was seen enjoying the festivities. ‘Anyone who has witnessed this dinner theater production can attest to how much the students love participating in the event and the good time had by all.?
‘Even during the years that Mrs. Lowe has brought me up in front of the crowd to try and demonstrate my juggling abilities, or lack thereof, I truly have a wonderful time,? he added jokingly.
Scripps plans on hosting another themed dinner in May.
