The detours and “road closed” signs will be out a little longer this summer as construction and roadwork continues in the local area.
In a bit of good news, as of Aug. 3, Davisburg Road across the I-75 bridge in Springfield Township is now open to through traffic.
Rattalee Lake Road across the I-75 bridge is closed in both directions until approximately Sept. 21.
This past Monday, Canadian National Railroad was expected to close Andersonville Road from White Lake/Nelsey Road to Clement Road, on the border of Independence and Waterford townships, for railroad-crossing repairs. The road is expected to reopen Aug. 14.
The railroad tracks are located just west of Clement Road.
During the closure, the detour is White Lake/Nelsey Road to Dixie Highway, back to Andersonville Road and vice versa.
Residential and business access will be maintained east and west of the railroad tracks.
According to the Road Commission for Oakland County, this section of Andersonville Road carries approximately 6,470 vehicles daily.
