Swimmers on a winning streak

After dropping their first swin meet of the season, the Wildcats rebounded to win the last three, including the first two meets against Oakland Activities Association blue division teams.
The Wildcats are currently 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the OAA Blue division.
Their second OAA victory came against a Hazel Park squad that only had nine swimmers competing due to losing their pool and feeder program because of the districts financial state.
Oxford defeated Hazel Park 96-53; according to Head Coach Jackie Rank, the team exhibitioned the last five races to allow the score to even up a bit.
The Wildcats finished one, two and three in every single individual race and 1-2 in every relay.
The results are as follows:
200 Medley Relay: The Wildcat A relay of senior captain Jenna Mallard, sophomore Laura Zorle, freshman Haley Kornburger and junior Amanda delaPaz finished first and set a school record with their time of 2:05.28. The C relay of sophomore Miranda Murphy, junior Grace Gailbreath, junior Brooklyn Allen and freshman Kaitlyn Barber came in second.
200 Freestyle: Senior captain Sarah Skelton finished first with a season best time of 2:15.17. Sophomore Casey Keils was second and sophomore Courtney Lavender was third.
200 Individual Medley: Senior captain Anna Daves finished first with a time of 2:44.99. Sophomore Caitlyn Wroblewski and freshman Kati Flanagan were second and third respectively.
50 Freestyle: delaPaz came in first for the Wildcats with a time of 27.92. Mallard and Gailbreath rounded out the top three.
Diving: Senior Jade Casadei qualified for the Oakland County Meet with her first place diving score of 168.55. Senior Kyla Pollard was second and senior Janine Huelsman was third.
100 Butterfly: Allen came in first with a time of 1:17.61. Wroblewski was second and sophomore Sammi Kurk was third.
100 Freestyle: Falangan finished first with a time of 1:08.71. Lavender was second and freshman Maryann Stockard was third.
500 Freestyle: Mallard took first place in the event with her time of 5:52.50, which was less than two second off the school record. Sarah Skelton and freshman Melissa Skelton were second and third for Oxford.
200 Freestyle Relay: The C relay team of delaPaz, Barber, Keils and freshman Rose Crane was first with a time of 2:04.16, The A relay of Daves, Gilmore, Kurk and senior Jamie Miller was second.
100 Backstroke: Kornburger finished in first place and set a school and pool record with her time of 1:03.31. Murphy and senior Jasmine Vickery rounded out the top three.
100 Breaststroke: Zorle finished first with a time of 1:20.05, followed closely by freshman Elizabeth Wilkins and Gilmore.
400 Freestyle Relay: The Wildcat’s C relay of Sarah Skelton, Daves, Jamie Miller and Keils came in first with a time of 4:27.56. The A relay of Lavender, Allen, Kornburger and Gilmore was second.
Earlier in the week, the Wildcats swam a highly competitive match against former Flint Metro League rival Brandon on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
They were able to pull out a 96-81 victory over the Blackhawks.

200 Medley Relay: The Wildcat A relay team of Wroblewski, Wilkins, Kornburger and delaPaz finished first with a time of 2:08.61. Oxford B relay team of Flanagan, Gilmore, Zorle and Daves was third.
200 Freestyle: Keils time of 2:17.16 placed her first, while Sarah Skelton was second and Allen rounded out the top five.
200 Individual Medley: The Wildcats swept the top three spots in the event. Kornburger established a pool record with her time of 2:20.58, while Wilkins and Wroblewski finished second and third respectively.
50 Freestyle: Mallard came in first with a time of 27.52 and delaPaz and Daves came in third and fourth respectively.
Diving: Casadei score of 170.65 placed her first overall, while Pollard came in third and Huelsman came in fourth in her diving debut.
100 Butterfly: Kornburger came in first place with her time of 1:03.01. Zorle was third and Kurk was fifth.
100 Freestyle: The Wildcats swept the event from the Blackhawks with Mallard taking first in a time a 59.00. Keils came in second and Daves was third.
500 Freestyle: Sarah Skelton finished second for Oxford with her time of 6:11.80. Flanagan came in third and Allen was fifth.
200 Freestyle Relay: The Wildcat A relay team of Zorle, Mallard, delaPaz and Skelton was first with a time of 1:54.60.
100 Backstroke: Wroblewski finished second with a time of 1:19.66. Murphy finished third and Melissa Skelton was fifth.
100 Breaststroke: Oxford finished in the top three spots in the event. They were lead by Zorle’s time of 1:20.01. Wilkins and Gilmore came in second and third respectively.
400 Free Relay: The A relay team of Kornburger, Daves, delaPaz and Mallard came in first with a school record time of 4:05.90. Hornburger lead off the free relay with a 100 freestyle record of 57.01. The C relay of Kurk, Lavender, Wroblewski and Gilmore was third for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats will travel to Clarkston on Thursday, Sept. 23 to take on one of the toughest teams in the OAA blue division.
