That’s a wrap: Fall all finished

The Lake Orion girls? 400-yard freestyle relay team finished 16th last Saturday in the Division 1 state meet’s final event, officially putting an end to the fall season at LOHS.
The team of Nicole Kudla, Sara Simic, Chrissie Forrest and Emily Loerch, finished in 3:46.21 to earn LO’s only two points in the meet.
As a whole, Lake Orion sports squads shined on the fields, pools and courts this fall. From district champions (football), to league champions (volleyball, boys cross country) to state qualifiers (girls swim, boys and girls cross country), to teams that are back on the map (boys tennis), it was a banner year.
Not to mention a boys soccer squad that narrowly lost in a district final to the eventual state runner-up and a girls? golf team that played well just months removed from a state title.
As All-League, County and State selections are made based on these successes, The Review will try to keep up. As such, if you know of an athlete deserving of mention that we have yet to include, please e-mail us at lakeorionreview@sbcglobal.net.
Cross country: Allie Hock made the All-State team for a third straight year, while Ryan Ziolko made the team for the second time.
Football: First team selections for the Dragons included offensive linemen Ethan Ruhland and Spencer Murphy, defensive lineman Kevin Kelly, linebacker Marc Huffman and punter Jacob Linklater. Defensive back Blaine Stormer made the second team, running back James Miller was a third team selection and Ryan Broth made the fourth team at quarterback, as did A.J. Gill at linebacker.
Tennis: Evan Wharton was an All-OAA II selection.
As coaches? and athletic directors? meetings conclude, look for more in the coming weeks and good luck to the winter teams (two previews can be this week’s issue).
