There’s a new ‘Chief’ in town

The search for the Addison Township Fire Chief has finally reached its conclusion.
The Addison Township Board of Trustees voted 6-0 in favor of appointing interim Fire Chief Jerry Morawski to become Addison Township’s full-time fire chief on Monday, Nov. 16.
Morawski was sworn in immediately after the board voted.
Addison has been without a fire chief since George Spencer resigned on March 2 after more than 10 years on the job.
Pearson acted on recommendations from the Fire Board and the Village of Leonard to appoint Morawski chief.
Morawski said he couldn’t have done it without all the guys on the fire department.
‘A leader is only as good as his followers,? said Morawski. ‘This would not be possible if it wasn’t for all the guys on the fire department and township to help us through the necessary times of need. I really, really appreciate it, and I hope everyday from here on out that I continue to get that help as we will continue to give the residents our help,? he said.
Morawski’s starting salary is $45,000, which was the low end of the pay scale set in the job description. A motion was set by the Board of Trustees that his salary would be subject to review by the Addison Townships Fire Board.
Morawski will be asked to plan, organize, direct and administer all operations of the fire department, manage the departments personnel, supplies, equipment and structures in accordance with the budget among other duties in the general job description.
‘I have worked with Jerry since he took over as the interim fire chief, I have gained an awful lot of respect for him,? said Addison Township Supervisor Bruce Pearson. ‘He has done a wonderful job for the Fire Department.?
