Three schools shutdown by power outage

Lake Orion High School was dismissed for the day and two other schools were forced to move after a power outage in parts of the township struck shortly after sessions began on Monday.
Township officials verified that a transformer in the ITC cooridor, at Giddings at Silverbell, was the likely cause of the outage at about 7:40 a.m. (The Review will pass along more information as it becomes available)
The problem was resolved a few hours later, but then went down for a second time later in the day.
Lake Orion Community Schools Superintendent Christine Lehman said the generator at the high school could not cover all the demands of the building, forcing the early dismissal.
Students at Scripps Middle School were moved to Waldon Middle School, and students from Stadium Drive Elementary School were relocated to Blanche Sims Elementary School.
The situation was not expected to change any regular plans for Tuesday and Lehman said the bus drop-off schedule remained normal.
