Tourney promotes drug-free fun

On March 14, about 200 students and staff at Oxford High School came together to find out who reigned supreme during the SADD club’s various tournaments.
-SADD, which stands for Students Against Destructive Desicions, does their best to promote the idea that kids can have a great time without getting drugs or alcohol involved.
At the OHS club’s tournament, students and staff competed against eachother in basketball, dodgeball and various video games.
The winners were as follows:
Basketball ? Principal Mike Schweig, Coach MikeSpencer, Zach Alexander, Zach Line (Team SADDChamps.com)
Volleyball ? Jacqui Sylva, Alex Johnson, Laura Brown, Morgan Stefanski, Brittany Moncrieff (Team Domination Station)
Dodgeball ? Andy Versteeg, Adam Heskitt, Michael Brendel, Rebecca Wissman, Lizzy Moore, Andy Stein (Team $tardust)
Guitar Hero ? Alec Berlingieri (Second year in a row)
Wii Bowling ? Kim Rizzo
‘The tournament provides a safe, healthy, drug-free place for kids to hang out and have fun,? said club sponsor and OHS teacher, David Carson. ‘SADD works extremely hard to put on these tournaments and would like to see more and more students attend.?
They put on other events throughout the year where participants can receive fun prizes, like iPods and remote car starters.
They also sponsor McSADD Day at the Oxford McDonald’s with carnival games and more fun stuff for little kids. Look for it sometime next month.
