Track team sends 10 to MHSAA state finals

After stellar performances at the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s regional competition held at Clarkston High School last Saturday, Oxford High School will be sending 10 of its varsity track athletes to the state finals May 31.
Those heading to the state finals in Rockford include: seniors Zach Tilley, David Hurrish, Andrew Klimbal, captain James Nelson, captains Shaunte Waller and Jacqui Sylva, sophomores Shannon Seeley, Keeona Ives and Kate Wolanin and junior Hannah George.
Despite the windy, rainy day, coach Andrew McDonald said everyone gave 110 percent overall.
The girls? team took 4th Place overall and the boys? took 6th.
‘I believe that the whole team deserves to be recognized for their constributions at the meet,? he said.
Highlights for the girls include Waller’s 3rd Place in shot put, junior Katherine Bosetti’s 3rd Place in pole vault, Sylva, Seeley, George and Ives? 2nd Place in the 800-meter relay and Wolanin, freshman Megan Seeley, Seeley and George’s 4th Place in the 1600-meter relay.
For the boys, highlights include senior Andrew Moll’s 4th Place in the 110-meter hurdles, Tilley, Hurrish, Klimbal and Nelson’s 1st Place win in the 800-meter relay, Klimbal’s 2nd Place in teh 400-meter dash and Nelson’s 2nd Place in the 200-meter dash.
