Trustee decision could be made by Monday

The Orion Township Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Monday, Jan. 29 for the purpose of conducting interviews of candidates who have submitted letters of interest for the vacant trustee position.
After some discussion at their Jan 16 meeting, the board decided not to extend the original Jan. 9 submission deadline.
That decision leaves seven candidates vying for the open seat, including Koula Christi, Mark E. Crane, Larry R. Mullins, Daniel Myslakowski, Neal Porter, Michael Toth and Sandra S. Walker.
All seven candidates will be invited by letter to participate on Jan 29. The process for interviews will be as follows:
~Each candidate will be given five minutes to make a brief presentation to the board as to why they applied and their qualifications, plus give any other information they may want to share.
~The order of interviews will then be determined by each candidate picking a number out of a hat.
~The applicants will then be requested to leave the room temporarily so that they are not present during interviews prior to their own.
~The board will be given 15 minutes to ask additional questions of any candidate.
After the interviews are completed, the board is set to deliberate. Clerk Jill Bastian said it is the goal of the board to come to a decision that night.
The meeting is open to the public and will be cablecast on ONTV.
A special meeting with township engineers, originally scheduled for Jan. 29, will be moved to a later date.
