Verran opens new office in hometown

It’s already been a busy year for Clint Verran, but that didn’t stop the physical therapist, who finished 10th at the Boston Marathon this past spring, from opening a new office in Lake Orion.
Verran, who currently lives in Rochester Hills, graduated from Lake Orion High School in 1993, and sees his return as a homecoming of sorts.
‘It was just kind of meant to be,? he said, noting that he has many clients in the area that were previously forced to make the long trek to his Utica location.
The new location, at 1261 S. Lapeer Road, Suite 102, is about four times the size of his office in Utica.
For the time being, Verran is splitting his time between the two locations.
‘It works out well right now having both locations,? he said, adding that the Lake Orion office has more space for exercise equipment, such as elliptical machines – which Verran said are good for injured runners.
In addition to being a physical therapist, Verran specializes in custom foot orthotics and personal coaching.
His clients range from individual runners to entire teams, such as the powerhouse Clarkston girls cross-country squad.
He said his business has been growing rapidly, particularly in Oakland County, which exposed the need for a new office.
‘The Boston Marathon gave me a lot of exposure in the area,? he said. ‘Plus I know a lot of people in town, and that always helps.?
Verran, who opened the new location in June, said his clients appreciate what he can bring to the table as a professional runner.
He has also established a strong relationship with Dr. John Arsen, a podiatrist in the same building, who has recommended patients with foot and ankle injuries see Verran.
‘Runners flock to him too,? said Verran, noting that Arsen is also an experienced runner.
Verran will hold an open house on Sept. 9 to allow local residents to see for themselves what he can offer.
The open house will run from 10 a.m. -4 p.m., and will include some complimentary evaluations.
‘I want to invite the community in to see what we have going on here,? he said.
Meanwhile, Verran’s training regimen is as busy as ever.
‘I’m still training as a professional,? he said, noting that next on his agenda is the Chicago Marathon.
Like the Boston Marathon in April, the Hansons-Brooks Team will send a gaggle of runners to Chicago.
The team had seven runners finish in the top 22 at Boston.
‘We’ve got 15 runners that are all gearing up for this one race,? said Verran, who is hoping for a top 10 finish and a new personal best in Chicago.
His long-term goal remains qualifying for the Olympics in Beijing in 2008, and, of course, expanding his new Orion practice.
