Weapon carrying guest threatens hosts? neighbors

One Rochester Hills man probably won’t be invited to a duplex in the Village of Lake Orion anymore.
Michael Woodall, 28, was arraigned July 9 on numerous charges involving an incident that took place last week.
According to LO Police Chief Jerry Narsh, Woodall had befriended a family that lived in a duplex on West Flint Street. He was visiting them on July 7 and brought a rifle, a large 10-inch Bowie knife and a hatchet.
Narsh said later in the evening Woodall and his friends were sitting outside on the duplex’s common porch. People that lived in the other duplex also came out on the porch.
During some conversation, according to Narsh, an argument allegedly erupted between Woodall and the male neighbor. Witnesses said Woodall opened his gun case and grabbed the knife and the hatchet and threatened the male and female neighbor.
‘He then dropped those two items and picked up a loaded high powered rifle that was ready to fire. That type of rifle can kill a person a half mile away,? Narsh said.
The female was near a door and was able to get into the house and call 911 at 12:30 a.m. Police arrived and Woodall was arrested. Alcohol didn’t appear to be a factor.
According to Narsh, more weapons were located in his vehicle.
Woodall was charged with two counts of assault with a firearm, two counts of use of firearm while committing a felony, possession of marijuana.
Woodall is out on bail after paying 10 percent of a $25,000 bond.
‘This is a crime of violence with weapons introduced. That ups the anti,? Narsh said. ‘It could have been a fatal situation.?
He indicated these type of crimes seem to be increasing in the village.
