Good things have been happening recently at Webber Elementary.
First, more students have been honored by Congressman Mike Rogers as Students of the Month. The students were selected by by their teachers as exemplary students, and excel in leadership, academics and extracurricular activities.
For the month of November, Students of the Month are (pictured back row, from left) Meghan Dyer, Victoria Bohannon, Erin Womack, (front, from left) Trent Davis, Matthew Onesko, Sydney Grupenhoff and (not pictured) Gaven Robertson.
Second, Webber Elementary’s mathletes participated in their first competition recently, competing against other schools from around the nation.
Students worked on five problems, which each had a time limit that ranged from two to six minutes. The test is teacher graded, and Coaches Karen Okonowski and Pam Kyle have submitted the scores to Math Olympiad.
The team, which is sponsored by the Lake Orion McDonald’s, will compete once a month, after practicing once a week.
