TO THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF INDEPENDENCE, OAKLAND COUNTY, MICHIGAN, AND ANY OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that at a regular meeting of the Charter Township of Independence Board of Trustees held on August 22, 2023, the Township Board approved a First Reading of the amendment to the Zoning Ordinance Chapter 50, Article 10, Section 10.03(E), Off-Street Drive-Through and Waiting Space and Article 12, Section 12.06(H), Miscellaneous Signs, as presented. The Board authorized a Second Reading of said Ordinance Amendment to be held on the next available Board of Trustees Regular Meeting.
A true copy of the text amendments is on file in the Planning & Zoning Department office and the Township’s Clerk’s office and may be examined during normal business hours, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE
(Text Amendments to Zoning Ordinance)
Amend Section 10.03 E. Drive-Through Facilities, subsection 1, as follows:
1. No more than one (1) drive-through servicing a pickup window shall be permitted for each individual building, regardless of the number of uses. Dual ordering stations associated with drive-through food service shall be permitted upon the approval of the Planning Commission.
Amend Section 12.06 Miscellaneous Signs, subsection H, Drive-Through Accessory Signs as follows:
2. Such signs, serving a single ordering station shall not exceed a total of seventy-two (72) square feet in area and six (6) feet in height from finished grade, provided no single sign shall exceed forty-eight (48) square feet in area. Signs serving dual ordering stations shall not exceed seventy-two (72) square feet in area per station and six (6) feet in height from finish grade, provided no single sign shall exceed forty-eight (48) square feet in area.
