An over 14,000 square-foot surgical center is eyeing a December completion and February opening in the Bald Mountain Regional Medical Complex.
The facility, currently under construction, will be overseen by Crittenton Hospital Medical Center.
‘It will be three operating rooms and all the support area for that,? said Crittenton President and CEO Lynn Orfgen.
Dr. Kevin Robertson, from the HealthFirst Medical Center that is located adjacent to where the new surgical center will be said construction started in the summer.
‘It’s an exciting medical opportunity for the community of Northeastern Oakland County because it allows people to have surgery done basically right in their own backyard,? Robertson said.
‘It’s a state-of-the-art center and I’m pretty excited about it,? he added, noting it will take up about 25 percent of the building.
Orfgen added that the facility will be for planned surgeries, not emergency procedures, but will save area residents plenty of travel time.
Crittenton’s largest facility is located in Rochester Hills and Crittenton employs more than 1,600 staff and 500 physicians.
‘It’s been Crittenton’s vision to allow this to happen,? Robertson said. ‘This is a real feather in our cap to have this here.?
Robertson said the new facility will be very patient-friendly.
‘There’s no loss in quality, but a huge gain in efficiency,? he said.
