Ski squads going to states

The Lake Orion ski teams are headed back to the state finals after strong showings at last week’s regional event at Mt. Holly.
The boys? team placed second with 58.5 points, behind Waterford (35), but a half point ahead of defending state champion Brother Rice.
Corey Blomquist led the Dragons with a combined slalom/giant slalom time of 57.46, good for 12th place overall. He was closely followed by Zach Prochaska (tied 13th), Ian Prochaska (15th) and Brian Arsen (18th).
The girls? team was led by Emily Loerch’s eighth place finish (49.01 combined time) as they finished third at the meet.
Their 73 points just edged out Grand Blanc for the final state qualifying spot. Clarkston dominated the meet, winning with 12 points, while Adams placed second with 66 points.
The state meet is Monday (Feb. 25) at Nub’s Nob in Harbor Springs. Look for detailed coverage in next week’s Lake Orion Review.
