Clarkston Area Youth Assistance (CAYA) recognized 102 kids at their annual youth recognition ceremony on April 28 at Clarkston United Methodist Church.
Kids were honored for taking on leadership roles in and outside their classrooms, whether it was befriending a new classmate and showing them around the school or starting a non-profit to help others in need.
Clarkston Area Youth Assistance was established in 1961 for the purpose of preventing juvenile delinquency and neglect in the Clarkston, Independence Township and Springfield Township communities. With the help of local citizens, Youth Assitance tries to identify the needs of the community and implement programs that help both children and families. Youth Assistance volunteers provide support in various projects and endeavors.
